Our Staff — Christ Led
God has lead just the right people at just the right time (His people and in His time) to create a servant atmosphere here at RBC. They have turned their backs on the fame and fortune of the world to serve God sacrificially in the ministry of Christian Camping. The staff’s desire is to see souls saved, Christians challenged by the preaching of the Word of God, provide a safe and fun environment for all ages to enjoy, and to give all that we have for the furthering of God’s ministry.
Kelly S. Earles — Camp Director
Kelly was born into a Christian home in Oakland City, Indiana where he attended McCullough Grove Baptist Church. After high school, Kelly attended and graduated from Bob Jones University with a degree in Camp Administration in 1995. Upon completion of his degree Kelly returned home, and worked construction while ministering at McCullough Grove in the children’s and teen ministries. During this time his pastor encouraged him to develop a day camp ministry. Over the next 8 years Kelly was a real estate appraiser and traveled several weeks each summer putting on day camps for churches. In 2005 Kelly married Mary and came to Rapidan Baptist Camp as the program director. After serving as the Program Director for 5 years, Kelly is currently serving as the Camp Director.
Wayne Leighan CV — Director of Maintenance
Wayne served 23 years in the U.S. Navy. Navy assignments included fourteen years enlisted service as a Hospital Corpsman and nine years of service as a Commissioned Officer. Most of his naval career was served in planning, constructing, and outfitting new medical and dental facilities. After retirement from the Navy he worked for a time as a consultant helping civilian hospitals to plan for and purchase medical equipment in conjunction with their construction projects. During this time he was led to discover that he needed time in his life for God and for family and started to attend Loudoun Baptist Temple in Leesburg, Virginia. He went to work for a local big box hardware store where he worked in the electrical department. During this time he accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and began to serve in his church with maintenance duties. He worked for a time in a heating ventilation and air conditioning company before moving to central Virginia. There he started working at Lowes in electrical and plumbing. During this time he was attending church in a start up church in Charlottesville where he sang in the choir and eventually taught children’s church. He met the director of Rapidan Baptist Camp at church and eventually became the Director of Maintenance at the camp in March of 2000. He is now a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Albemarle County where he teaches Men’s Sunday School class and sings in the choir. Summer is a wonderful time when he gets to work with and mentor the young men working on the maintenance staff.
